Il Mio Lavoro (Aggiornamento 1)

Venerdì scorso ho ricevuto una notizia due notizie dal mio boss, di cui una bella ed una meno piacevole (almeno per me).
Sono stato convocato per sentirmi dire che i clienti (principalmente Nissan e Renault) sono contenti di come funzioni la versione Italiana di Vorero. Come potete facilmente intuire quella di cui ho appena parlato e' la bella notizia.
La notizia meno piacevole consiste nell' avere scoperto che il mio boss vuole che non lavori piu' sul modello predittivo per la lingua Italiana e che inizi ad occuparmi del modello Tedesco. La mia frase dopo avere ricevuto la notizia dal boss è stata: yada!!! (che sta ad indicare la mia disapprovazione).
Dopo il mio "yada", il boss ha sorriso ed ha chiesto se fosse tutto a posto, ed allora io ho risposto che non mi piace il Tedesco ma che farò del mio meglio (insieme alle altre tre persone che ci lavorano sopra) per migliorarne le performance.
In vita mia non mi sarei mai sognato di dovere imparare un pò di Tedesco...beh la verità è che non mi è mai piaciuto.

My Job (Update 1)

Last Friday I recieved two news from my boss, and as usual, one is nice and one is not.
The good news is that the Italian model is working very good and the customers (mainly Nissan and Renault) are very happy about it. The bad news is that, since the Italian model is quite good now, I should stop working on the Italian model and start working in the German language one.
My first expression when my boss said that to me was: YADAAAAA!!!!
Then my boss esked me if I am was ok, and I answered that I just do not like German language. Then I said that I would work on it anyway and I will do best to improve that model too. And my boss said: "ganbatte ne!!".

La Mia Nuova Casa

Oggi mostrerò qualcosa della casa che mi è stata fornita dalla azienda per la quale lavoro e nella quale vivrò durante la mia esperienza in Giappone.
Prima di arrivare mi aspettavo che fosse più piccola, ma quando sono arrivato sono rimasto positivamente stupito anche perché considerando che le case in Giappone sono molto piccole e considerato inoltre che ci vivo da solo, la casa è abbastanza spaziosa. In pratica è un piccolo monolocale all' interno del quale non manca però nulla. Al suo interno vi ho trovato tutto quello che serve in una casa: dall' aspirapolvere al microonde, al condizionatore. L' angolo cucina purtroppo è davvero piccolo, ma questo problema lo notato soltanto le persone a cui, come me, piace cucinare. Una cosa che comprerò al più presto è un tavolo in stile Giapponese, anche perché quando dei miei amici vengono a trovarmi non è proprio il massimo mangiare per terra senza un tavolo.
Considerando che la casa e tutte le spese ad essa connesse sono pagate dall' azienda, beh...non mi resta che essere contento.

My New Home

Today I will show something about my home in Japan.
Before I seen it, I thought it would be smaller then it actually is, but when I seen it I was soon positively impressed. Considering that Japanes houses are relatively small (especially compered to the Italian houses) and considering that I will leave by myself, I thing it is big enough. Inside I found almost everything I need, from the rise-cooker to the microwave. It is composed by the main room and a bathroom (including bathtub). The only thing I would like to be little bigger is the cooking area, but this little inconvenient can be noticed only by people who, same as I do, like too cook. One of the thing I will soon buy is a Japanese style table, mainly because when I invite someone, and I cook, is not nice too eat ont the floor.
To conclude, considering that the company is paying for the home and for all the expenses conected to it, well...I can only be happy.

Il mio lavoro (parte 1)

Sono venuto in Giappone per lavorare come stagista alla Asahi KASEI ad Hon-Atsugi.
La Asahi KASEI è una grande azienda Giapponese che iniziato nel campo della chimica per poi arrivare alla produzione di materiali edili ed ora è anche nel campo dell' informatica.
In particolare io lavoro nella divisione "new businness solutions" e nella sezione "Multilingual Speach Recognition Group".
Semplificando di molto la descrizione del mio lavoro, mi limiterò a dire che il mio compito consiste nel cercare di migliorare il software di riconoscimento vocale (VORERO) prodotto dalla Asahi KASEI. Io ovviamente mi occupo di migliorare la parte che riconosce la lingua Italiana.
In realtà sarebberò necessari almeno tre post per spiegare quello di cui mi occupo, dunque per ora accontetatevi di questo. In una parola, vi basti sapere che faccio ricerca per la Asahi KASEI.
Il posto di lavoro è a 10 minuti a piedi dal posto in cui vivo. La costruzione si chiama AXT Tower, ed essendo il palazzo più alto della città si vede praticamente da ovunque.
In ufficio sono tutti molto gentili e l' ambiente è molto rilassato, ed è inoltre mandatorio riposarsi almeno 10 minuti ogni ora :-) .
Non ci si stanca mai troppo, ed il lavoro è molto interessante. Alle 12:00 c' è la pausa pranzo di 1 ora, durante la quale si può andare a mangiare in caffetteria, comprare un bento dai camioncini che si piazzano sulla strada oppure andare in un ramen shop o a comprare degli udon.
Alle una si inizia di nuovo a lavorare e sitermina alle 17:45.
Di solito quando torno a casa vado subito a fare due passi al centro di Atsugi, per riposarmi un pò o per fare un pò di spesa per la cena.

My Job (part 1)

I came to Japan, in Hon-Atsugi to work for one year for Asahi KASEI Corporation. AK is a big Japanese company which started their businness in the area of chemistry and nowadays is producing almost everything.
I work as a researcher in the engeneering/Computer-Science area, and in particular I am part of the Multilingual Speech Recognition Group. To explain exactly wat I am doing would maybe need 3 posts, so I will only tell you that my task is to improve the performances (quality) of a speech recognition software produced by Asahi KASEI.
The working place is 22th floor of the Atsugi AXT main tower. It is the highest building in Atsugi, so you can see it from everywere (even from Yokohama's main building). I can go at work in 10 minutes by walk, since the building is quite close to the place where I stay.
The work is not hard (I mean not stressing) and all the people at the office are very nice and kind. I start working at 9am (I can also go at 10am, and leave one hour later then the normal working time) and at 12am we have lunch time break. For lunch I can go to buy something at konbini or caffetteria (しょくど)　or I can go outside to buy bento from the bento-moving-shops on the street or go to some ramen shop close to the AXT.Moreover in the office we have microwave, coffee machine, tea, and many other things that you can have for free. Yesterday I prepared lunch for the lunch break and today I could eat it using microwave...it was quite fun.
At 1pm we restart working, and dunring the working time it is mandatory to take a 10 minutes break to take some rest (I think they are too kind). The work is never stressing we all of us help each ther when needed. I stop working at 5:45pm.
Usually after work I go for a walk at the center of Hon-Atsugi (12 minutes by walk from Youth Heim) just to take rest, or to buy something to cook for the dinner.

Viaggio

Vivo in Giappone da cinque giorni e non ho assolutamente avuto il tempo di aggiornare il Blog...
Il viaggio è andato molto bene a parte il fatto che stavo per perdere la coincidenza all' aeroporto di Heathrow.
Una volta atterrato a Narita e passati i controlli all' ufficio immigrazione, ho aspettato l' autobus che porta ad Sagami-Ono, un posto poco lontano da Atsugi. A Sagami-Ono ho incontrato la coordinatrice dell' internship con la quale abbiamo preso il treno per Hon-Atsugi.
Una volta ad Hon-Atsugi ci siamo recati al Youth-Heim, dove si trova la mia nuova casa, per lasciare i bagagli.
Lasciati i bagagli, via in ufficio a conoscere i miei nuovi colleghi. La cosa è stata abbastanza traumatica, visto che dopo più di 24 ore di viaggio  mi si sono presentate circa 25 persone provenienti da ogni parte del mondo. Ovviamente, uscito dall' ufficio non ricordavi nemmeno un nome.
Arrivato a casa, ho buttatto per terra il futon e buona notte a tutti.

The travel

I live in Japan since 5 days and I didn't really had the time to write on the blog...
The travel was ok, even if I was close to lose the flight from Heathrow to Narita. Landed in Narita, I after I passed throw the immigration office, I son went to catch the bus to reach Sagami-Ono which is quite close to Hon-Atsugi. In Sagami-Ono I met the internship coordinator, and togheter we went to catch the train to Hon-Atsugi. Once in Hon-Atsugi, we went to leave my luggage at the my new home, and from there we directly moved to visit my new colleghes, at the office at the AXT Main Tower.
There I met many people in few seconds, and they comes from all around the world, so as you can imagine, after I went out from the office I did not remember any name.
After the office I went back to my new home, dropped dow the futon and...Oyasumi.

さよならタイム (sayonara time)

Il giorno della partenza è sempre più vicino ed è ovviamente il momento di salute amici e persone care.
Questo fine settimana, ho dovuto salutare tante persone, e certe volte è stato triste anche perché non so quando le rivedrò di nuovo.
Il Giovedì scorso ho salutato, anche se con lui ci rivedremo il prossimo Natale visto che lui verrà a trovarmi in Giappone. Il Venerdì ho Salutato Enrico (Il mio professore) ed Angela (la ricercatrice che mi seguito durante il lavoro di tesi), ed ho inoltre finito il lavoro che mia avevano chiesto di fare prima della partenza.
Sempre Venerdì ho saluta la mia amica Tejal, ed in quel caso sapevano che rivederci sarà ancora più difficile, visto che Domenica lei parte per la Danimarca.
Questa domani vado a trovare mia sorella e mio cognato e poco prima di Martedì partirò per Milano dove saluterò altri amici.
Beh...ora vado a finire la preparazione della valigia...

Sayonara Time

The day I will leave to Japan is always closer and obviously it's also time so say ciao to my good friends.
In these days I had to say sayonara to many people and in some case it was very sad because we do not know when we will have the chance to meet again.
On Thuesday I said ciao to Arge, but in that case it's ok somehow because he will come to visit me in Japan in the end of December. On Friday I met Enrico (my Professor) and Angela, we went out to for a drink, and I am also happy because I could finish the work they wantem to do before I leave to Japan. Still on Friday I met my Indian friend Tejal, and in that case was more sad to say goodbye because she is going to work in Denmark, so we really do not know when we will have the chance to meet again.
Tomorrow I will visit my sister and my brother in law, and before Tuesday I will go to Milan to meet some other friend.
Well...now I go to finish preparing my suitecase...
