Permesso di sogiorno ottenuto

Lo scorso Giovedì ho ricevuto a Trento il CoE intorno alle 16 ed alle 18 sono subito partito per Milano ( da notare che ero tornato la notte prima dalla Sicilia). Il Venerdì mattina mi sono recato al consolato del Giappone a Milano per richiedere il visto. Sono Entrato alle 10 di mattina e sono uscito alle 10:20 dopo avere compilato il modulo per la richiesta della VISA e dopo avere consegnato tutta la documentazione richiesta dal consolato (passaporto compreso). Prima di uscire mi è stato detto di tornare alle 15, orario in cui avrei poturo ritirare il mio passaporto (con VISA inclusa).
dalle 10:30 alle 14:30 ho girovagato per Milano, rischiando inoltre di annegare a causa della tempesta di pioggia (io indossavo una leggerissima magliettina estiva) che per circa un' ora si è abbattuta sulla città dei panettoni.
Dopo avere mangiato al Mc Donald's che si trova in piazza Duomo, e dopo aver girato un pò per Milano, sono tornato alle 14:40 al consolato Giapponese. Una volta entrato mi è stato immediatamente consegnato il mio passaporto con all' interno il visto annuale che mi permetterà di viverci per un anno.
Il resto del Venerdì e del Sabato l' ho trascorso con dei miei carissimi amici che spero di riincontrare prima di partire per il Giappone.
Che altro dire...sono stanchissimo, ma sono anche felice come una Pasqua.

I got VISA for Japan

Last Thuesday I recieved the CoE from Asahi KASEI around 4pm and I left to Milan at 6pm (I went back from Sicily the night before). On Friday morning I went to the Japanese consulate to apply for my VISA. I enter at 10am and I came out just 20 minutes later after I compiled the application form, I gave them all the needed documents (including my passport). At the VISA office the saied to me come back at 3pm to get my passport and visa.
During the spare time I walked around Milan and I also got lot of rain because it rained very hard for almost one hour. I had lunch at Mc Donald's and then, after walking around Milan for another hour, I went back to the Japanese consulate. Ones I entered they soon gave me my back my passpot with the Japanese visa attached on it.
I spent Friday and Saturday with some nice friend which I hope to meet again before I leave to Japan.
What else....I am very tired but crazy genki.

Arrivo e Riparto

Giovedì nel pomeriggio sono arrivato a Trento. Nella mattinata ho incontrato qualche vecchio amico a Catania. Il viaggio è stato è stato ottimo e sono arrivato a Trento che non ero molto stanco.
Devo dire che mi era mancata la mia vecchia stanza ed anche Trento mi era mancata un pò. Il Venerdì a pranzo sono andato a pranzo da Apo e Rox e sono stato molto felice di rivederli.
Nel pomeriggio ho finalmente ricevuto il CoE con allegata una lettera di invito da parte dell' azienda. Questi documenti sono fondamentali per potere ottenere il visto (permesso di soggiorno) da parte dell' ambasciata o del consolato Giapponese.
Ora si parte per Milano, per raggiungere il consolato Giapponese tramite il quale otterrò il visto per lavorare un anno in Giappone.

Just arrived and already leaving...

On Thuesday afternoon I arrived in Trento. In the morning I met some old friends in Catania. The trip was ok and when I arrived in Trento I was not too tired.
I must admit that I missed my room and also missed Trento somehow. On Friday I had lunch with Apo and Rox and I gave them the wine I bought in Sicily and some sweets.
In the afternoon I finally received the CoE with attached an invitation letter from Asahi KASEI. Those two documents are needed to obtain the visa from the Embassy or Japanese Consulate.
Now I have to leave to Milan to go the Japanese consulate and apply to obtain the VISA to work in Japan for one year.

CoE (Aggiornamento)

Circa un mese fa avevo parlato del CoE (Certificato Di Elegibilità). Il certificato mi servirà per ottenere il visto per lavorare in Giappone.
Ad inizio Agosto ho ricevuto conferma da parte della coordinatrice dei progetti di stage alla Asahi KASEI, dell' invio dei docmenti necessari per ottenere il CoE.
Questo significa che molto probabilmente la Asahi KASEI mi invierà il CoE non appena sarò tornato a Trento.
Ora non mi resta che essere paziente....

CoE (Update)

More than one month ago I talked about the CoE (Certificate of Elegibility). The certificate is necessary for me to obtain the visa to work in Japan.
In this month I recieve the confirmatio from Asahi KASEI, that they applied for my CoE. That means that probably they will send the CoE during the first two weeks of September.
I cannot wait to recieve it....

"Il lasciapassare A38"

Come potreste intuire dal post precedente, ho dovuto reperire tutti i documenti necessari per il CoE ed inviarli in Giappone in modo che la gentilissima coordinatrice del progetto potesse richiedere il CoE per me.

Ogni volta che si tratta di ottenere dei documenti, per i quali è richiesto andare in qualche ufficio, io entro in paranoia. Il motivo è la lentezza della burocrazia e la solita incompetenza dei segretari che non fanno altro che inviarti in un altro ufficio, dal quale, molto probabilmente sarete indirizzati ad un altro ancora (se non in quello da cui state arrivando).

I Francesi ci hanno preso in giro a causa della nostra burocrazia anche tramite lo splendido cartone Asterix. In "Asterix e le 12 Fatiche", Asterix ed Obelix si trovano ad un certo punto a Roma, dove una delle loro missioni sarà quella di recuperare il lasciapassare "A38" dalla "casa che rende folli".

Beh, la mia esperienza è stata simile, in quanto, per fare un esempio, pur seguendo un corso completamente in inglese (lezioni ed esami), e studiando in una Università che si vanta del suo essere internazionale, mi sento rispondere che non si rilasciano certificati in inglese.

Ovviamente sono stato sballottato da un ufficio all' altro fino a quando il grande "Blanzo" (il mio prof di Tesi) non mi ha gentilmente dato il suo aiuto semplicemente firmando e timbrando le traduzioni che io avevo fatto dei certificati in Italiano.

In definitiva credo che la burocrazia sia uno dei più grandi mali dell' Italia, e sono sicuro che non se ne libererà in futuro prossimo.

Tornando al CoE, i documenti che ho dovuto inviare sono i seguenti:

1. Due fototessera
2. La pagina identificativa del mio passaporto
3. Certificato di iscrizione (con materie) all' Università
4. Lettera di Raccomandazione preparata dal mio professore
5. Lettera in cui il prof garantisce che sono iscritto all' Università e che il lavoro che svolgerò in Giappone sarà valutato al mio ritorno dal Giappone
6. Una copia del contratto stipulato con l' azienda

As you can guess I had to produce the needed documentation and send it to the internship coordinator so that she could apply for my CoE. The problem is that everytime I need to produce a certificate, for which I need to go to some office, I became paranoid.
The reason is that burocrazy in Italy is terribly slow and usually people working in offices doesn't do their job very well.

The result is that, if they do not know how to satisfy your request, they will simply send you to another office, in which the secretary will probably tell you to go to another office (sometimes the same office you are coming from).

All was ridiculous because I am studying in a course which classes and exams are held in English, but when I asked for enrollment certificate in English language they said to me: "sorry we do not produce the certificate in English and even if you translate it we will not put University name on it".
You can maybe imagine how much I got mad.

Well, I went to many offices without solving any problem until my Professor helped me, and authenticated the certificates I translated from Italian to English.

French people usually laugh about Italy because of it's problems related to the terribly slow burocrazy.
In "Asterix e le 12 fatiche" ("Asterix and Obelix" is a French cartoon and comic), Asterix and Obelix are in Rome, in which their mission is to get "pass a38" (a certificate) from the "house that makes mad".
Sorry but I could not find the video in English language.

Returning to the CoE, I produced the following documents:

1. 2 passport-sized photos
2. 1 photocopy of the ID page of my passport
3. Certificate of enrollment (including grades) from my University
4. Recommendation letter from my professor
5. A letter in which my professor states that the work I will do in Japan will be considered as part of my University studies.
6. A copy of the contract between me and Asahi KASEI

Il Visto ed il CoE

I cittadini italiani che si recano in Giappone per motivi turistici per un periodo non superiore ai 90 giorni, non necessitano di alcun visto sul passaporto dal momento che fra l'Italia e il Giappone vi e un accordo di esenzione dal visto. E' sufficiente che il passaporto sia in corso di validita'.

Al contrario, per ricevere il visto, e' necessario ottenere dal Giappone un documento chiamato "Certificate of Elegibility" (Certificato di Eleggibilità); detto documento viene rilasciato dalle Autorità di Immigrazione giapponese su richiesta del datore di lavoro giapponese previa stipula di un contratto o, nel caso di studio, da un'istituzione scolastica giapponese dopo regolare iscrizione. Il C.o.E. ha il vantaggio di ridurre i tempi di ottenimento del visto presso le ambasciate o i consolati, a completamento delle procedure di immigrazione per coloro che si recano in Giappone per svolgere attivita' remunerative, per studio, per soggiorni a lungo termine, etc.

I tempi di emissione del C.o.E. sono generalmente piuttosto lunghi (circa 60-90 giorni), pertanto e' opportuno inoltrare la richiesta alle Autorita' dell'immigrazione in Giappone con sufficiente margine di anticipo.

Visa and CoE

Italian citizens visiting Japan as turists, for less than 90 days, does not need Visa on their passport because of the relationships between the two countries. A valid passport is enough to enter Japan for holidays.

The situation is different if you are going to stay in Japan for work or study, and anyway, for a period longer than 90 days. In this case you need VISA, and to get VISA you first need to obtain from Japan a document called "Certificate of Elegibility" (C.o.E.); the company for which you are going to work (or the school, in case you are planning to enter as student) will apply (for example presenting the working contract between you and the company) to obtain the C.o.E. from Japan Immigration offices.

The certificate is useful because it makes shorter the time needed to obtain VISA, and ones you get the C.o.E. you can simply go to the Japanese embassy in Rome or to the Japanese Consulate in Milan, to get your VISA.

The time needed to obtain C.o.E. ones you (your company or school) applied is in average 90 days, so if you are planning to enter Japan in few months is better you start thinking about getting the C.o.E.
