Yukata

Lo Yukata (浴衣) è un tradizionale indumento estivo Giapponese. Al giorno d' oggi le persone che lo indossano stanno molto probabilmente recandosi a guardare dei fuochi di artificio (anabi) o ad altri festival o eventi estivi.
Lo Yukata è una specie di Kimono che veniva tradizionalmente indossato dopo avere fatto il bagno, ed ancora oggi nei ryokan le persone lo indossano dopo il bagno.
Per indossare lo Yukata sono necessari anche lo Obi e le Geta.
L' Obi è una cintura tipica nell' abbigliamento tradizionale Giapponese che serve a tenere chiuso il kimono. L' Obi viene anche usato nell' abbigliamento per arti marziali come ad esempio il Judo.
Le Geta sono dei sandali di legno e sono solitamente indossati con lo Yukata.

Anch' io ho il mio Yukata ed è composto come segue:
• Yukata (di colore grigio)
• Obi (di colore giallo scuro)
• Genta (di colore giallo scuro)

Quando vivrò in Giappone sicuramente avrò più occasioni per indossarlo, e vi assicuro che non è scomodo come si potrebbe pensare.
Per la vestizione è necessario che qualcuno vi aiuti...e spero di scrivere al più presto un post riguardante il modo in cui si indossa lo Yukata.

Yukata

Yukata (浴衣) is a Japanese summer clothing. People wearing Yukata are common sight at fireworks displays, and other summer events.
The yukata is a casual for of kimono that is also frequently worn after bathing at traditional Japanese inn.
To wear yukata you also need Obi and Geta.
The obi is a belt used in tradional Japanese clothing and it used to keep the kimono closed. Obi is also used to keep closed kimono used in the judo martial art.
Geta are wooden sandals usually worn with the yukata.

I have my own yukata and it composed as follows:
• Yukata (dark grey color)
• Obi (dark yellow color)
• Geta (dark yellow color)

When I will live in Japan I am sure I will have more chances to wear my Yukata, and I want you to that it is quite confortable to wear.
Wearing a yukata is not necessarily obvious so you will need someone to help you wearing it. I hope as soon as possible I will write a post about how to wear yukata.

50 anni di Toei Animation

Per chi non la conoscesse, la TOEI animation è il più grande produttore di cartoni animati del Giappone ed uno dei più grandi del mondo. Cercare di fare una lista delle serie animate (quella completa la trovate in fondo a questa pagina) e di OAV che ha prodotto sarebbe quasi impossibile vista la abnorme mole di lavori portati a termine.
Vi basti solo sapere che ha prodotto serie animate tra le quali, "L' uomo Tigre", "Ken Il Guerriero", tutte le serie animate e gli OAV di dragon-ball eccetera, eccetera, eccetera. La loro mascotte (un gatto con cappello da cow-boy) altri non è che il protagonista del lungometraggio "Il gatto con gli stivali" che è stato uno dei primi lavori di Ayao Miyazaki (in questo caso ha fatto da animatore).
Concludendo, la TOEI ha prodotto almeno il 90% dei cartoni animati che io ho guardato nella mia infanzia ed altri nuovi che guardo adesso. Posso solo dire, grazie e tanti auguri alla TOEI animation.

50 Years of TOEI Animation

TOEI animation is the biggest animation studio in Japan and one of the biggest in the world. This year they are celebrating the 50 years of activity of the company. They produced almost the 90% of the cartoons I watched when I was young (and they are producing some other I currently watching). Some title is "Tiger Mask", "Hokuto No Ken", all Dragon-Ball tv-series and OAV (even if I only liked the first tv-serie lauched in 1986), and many, many, many others (you can find the complete list at the bottom of this web-page).
The mascotte you can find in the official web-page is the main character of "Nagagutsu wa Haita Neko" aka Puss in Boots) and it was one of the first works, as animator, of Ayao Miyazaki.
What can I say??? Happy birthday TOEI...

Asimo-kun

Asimo (アシモ ashimo) è un robot umanoide creato dalla Honda. La sua altezza in piedi è di 130cm e pesa 54kg. Asimo somiglia ad un piccolo astronauta con uno zaino, e può correre e camminare ad una velocità di 6km/h.
Il robot è stato creato nei centri di ricerca Honda in Giappone ed il modello corrente rappresenta la undicesima versione di una linea che ha avuto inizio nel 1986 con il prototipo E0.
Differentemente da come si pensa, il nome Asimo non rappresenta un omaggio al famoso scrittore russo, Isaac Asimov, inventore delle tre leggi della robotica, ma rappresenta invece l' acronimo per "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility". Fino al 2007 sono stati creati otto unità dell' androide di casa Honda ed il costo di produzione per una singola unità è superiore ai 600 mila euro.
Asimo è capace di riconoscere dei volti e seguire degli oggetti, ed è capace di correre, camminare, salire e scendere dalle scale, giocare a calcio ballare ed agire in maniera autonoma.
Io guardo ad Asimo come un concentrato di ingegneria, fisica, informatica e tecnologia in generale, ma guadando il video allegato sono sicuro che chiunque esclamerà WOW!!!

Asimo-kun

Asimo (アシモ ashimo) is a humanoid robot created by Honda Motors. Standing at 130cm and weighing 54kg, the robot resembles a small astronaut wearing a backpack and can walk or run on two feet at a speed up to 6km/h.
Asimo was created at Honda's research center in Japan and it is the current model in a line of eleven that began in 1986 with E0.
Officially, the name is an acronym for "Advanced Step in Innovative MObility", and that indicates that the robot's name is not a reference to science fiction writer and inventor of the Three Laws of Robotics, Isaac Asimov. As of 2007, there are 46 ASIMO units in existence, and each one costs a little more than 630.000€ to manufacture.
Asimo is able to recognize faces, follow moving objects, walk, run, dance, play soccer, interact with other Asimo units and human people.
I look at Asimo with computer sience student eyes, and I can just be impressed for the huge amount of high technology "packed" in Asimo, but I am sure just looking at the embedded video, anyone will say WOW seeing Asimo-kun in action.

Ronin

Il termine Ronin si riferisce ad un samurai che non ha più il suo padrone e risale al periodo feudale (1185-1868) del Giappone. I motivi per i quali un samurai perde il suo padrone a causa della morte di quest' ultimo oppure perché non è più gradito dal proprio padrone, dal quale poteva essere cacciato.
Il termine Ronin è dunque solitamente usato con fini dispregiativi, a parte l' unico caso dei 47 Ronin.
La storia narra della vendetta di 47 samurai il cui padrone era stato costretto a compiere il "seppuku" (suicidio rituale) per avere attaccato un ufficiale della corte di nome Kira Yoshinaka. I Ronin hanno vendicato l' onore del loro padrone uccidendo Kira dopo avere spettato un anno prepando il piano per ucciderlo. Dopo l' omicidio i 47 ronin dovettero compiere il seppuku come punizione per il reato di omicidio.
La figura del Ronin ha ispirato molti film sia in Giappone che in Occidente. In Occidente il termine ronin ricorderà sicuramente il famoso film omonimo che ha come protagonista Robert De Niro.
Anche Akira Kurosawa ha diretto dei film che narrano delle storie sui ronin, e questi sono "I Sette Samurai" e "Yojimbo" (il cui protagonista è interpretato da Toshiro Mifune).

Nel Giappone moderno, il termine ronin identifica gli studenti che non sono riusciti a superare l' esame di ammissione per la scuola superiore o università che avevano scelto, decindo di passare l' hanno a studiare per prepararsi a ripetere l' esame.

Ronin

A ronin (浪人, rōnino) was a samurai with no lord or master during the feudal period (1185-1868) of Japan. A samurai became masterless from the ruin or fall of his master (as in the case of death in a war), or after the loss of his master's favour or privilege.
The term ronin was then usually used as an humiliation, the only positive use of the term is in the case of the story of the forty-ronin.
The story tells of a group of samurai who were left leaderless (became ronin) after teir daimyo (feudal lord) was forced to commit seppuku (ritual suicide) for assaulting a court official named Kira Yoshinaka. The ronin avenged their master's honor after patiently waiting and planning for over one year to kill Kira. In turn, the ronin were themeselves forced to commit seppuku for committing the crime of murder.
The figure of ronin inspired many movies both in Japan and Western countries. In western cinema, the term Ronin usually remembers the movie (which title is "Ronin") which as has main actor Robert De Niro.
Akira Kurosawa's films Seven Samurai and Yojimbo are two widely known examples of movies in which such ronin figure is prominent.

The term ronin is also used in modern Japan for students who have failed the yearly school entrance examination for the high school or university of their choice, and thenn decided to spend the next year studying to retake the exam. This use derives from their having no school to attend, as a ronin samurai has no leader to serve.

iPhone 3G in Italia e Giappone

L' 11 di Luglio il nuovo telefono di casa Apple verrà messo in vendita in molti paesi del mondo, tra i quali vi sono anche l' Italia ed il Giappone.
In Italia le compagnie che lo venderanno saranno Vodaphone e TIM, mentre in Giappone, lo smartphone sarà offerto dalla Softbank. Come ci si aspettava in Italia i piani di abbonamento sono vergognosi, e soprattutto non comprendono una tariffa flat per i dati che permetta di usare lo smartphone in tutte le su funzionalità.
In questo post mostrerò le offerte dell' operatore Giapponese e di quelli Italiani e sottolineo subito che non sarà fatta una convesione da yen ad euro, ma si darà un valore indicativo che rispecchi il potere d' acquisto della somma in questione. Ad esempio, ricordiamo che 100 Yen in Giappone hanno orientativamente lo stesso potere di acquisto di 1 € in Italia. Dunque 1000 Yen corrisponderanno più meno a 10 €.
Iniziamo:

SoftBank:
Prezzo abbonamento mensile: 7.298 Yen (circa 70€) comprensivo di interent illimitato (perfetto per iPhone), email illimitate (in Giappone le email sostituiscono gli sms), chiamate illimitate verso numeri softbank dalle 1:00 alle 21:00.
Prezzo Iphone: 23.040 Yen (circa 200 €, con il cambio viene 140 €)

Vodaphone Italia:
Prezzo abbonamento mensile: varia da un minimo di 59€ ad un massimo di 99€ ed in ogni caso non si ha mai tariffa flat per i dati.
Prezzo iPhone: varia da un minimo di 49€ ad un massimo di 269€ a seconda del piano di abbonamento scelto.
Prezzo iPhone senza abbonamento: 499€ per la vesione 8GB e 569€ per la versione 16GB.

TIM:
Prezzo abbonamento mensile: varia da un minimo di 30€ ad un massimo di 200€ e nel caso migliore il traffico dati massimo e di 5GB (comunque non è una flat).
Prezzo iPhone: varia da un minimo di 0€ ad un massimo di 269€ a seconda del piano di abbonamento scelto.
Prezzo iPhone senza abbonamento: non ancora disponibile.

A questo punto sta a voi tirare le somme, anche se risulta palese come in Italia si tenti sempri di rubare dei soldi ai consumatori.

Iphone 3G in Italy and Japan

The 11th of July the new smatpone from Apple will be available for Italian and Japanese users too. In Italy the careers that will sell the iPhone will be Vodaphone and TIM, while in Japan the smartphone will offered by Softbank.
As we expected, in Italy there will be no good plan that will let use the iPhone by getting advantage from all it's features. For example Italian careers will not offer a flat plan for data.
In this post I willsummary the offers from Softbank, Vodaphone Italy and TIM and I want to underline that I will not consider the conversion from Euro to Yen, while I will consider the real value of the amount I will show. For example I will consider that with 100 Yen in Japan, you can almost same things that you could by with 1 € in Italy. So, for example 2000 Yen will be roughly 200 €.

I start then:

Softbank Japan:
Monthly plan price: 7.298 Yen (almost 70€) including flat data plan (perfect for iPhone), illimited email and free calls to Softbank phones from 1:00 am to 21:00 pm.
iPhone price: 23.040 Yen (almost 200€, while cosidering the change from euro to Yen it would be 140€)

Vodaphone Italy:
Monthly plan price: it goes from 59€ to 99€ and anyway the monthly download amount is limited to 600 megabytes.
